G’day
Big thanks to all of you that commented on my first post about painting this Outgard Grunt. Your thoughts and advice really did help.
I’ve added some weathering, a little rust and a spatter of blood. I also did some drybrushing for highlighting.
I’m quite happy with him now and he has set the tone/scheme for the “good guys” of Outgard who are called “The Pure.”
Thanks again for helping.
He looks good. Just be careful of adding too much grime/blood/etc to keep them easily distinguishable from the various bad guys, while still keeping the gritty feel that you’re after.

Thanks Azazel and yeah good point. I could easily get carried away with such extra touches and I do want the good guys looking a little cleaner than the bad dudes. Cheers

Thanks man. Lots to paint but today I’ve been working on three terrain pieces for Outgard. Could be used for other things too.

How did you do the blood splatters?

I have an old toothbrush that I dip in blood for the blood god or red food dye and then flick it with my thumb. The technique works really well to create the spatter effect compared to dabbing it on with a brush.

I might give that a shot. The results are really nice.

Thanks Warbs. Lots more to come. Worked on some terrain today.

Yep he looks really good, perhaps a few of the rest could be less “splattered” as not everyone in a fight gets as “close and dirty” as some.
Cheers Roger.

Thanks and yes true. Although as this guy is wielding a shot gun I felt a good spatter would be fairly believable haha. Plus he’s blind so who knows what he’s blasting apart. Could be a foe, could be the next door neighbours Beagle.

He’s looking undecomposed with that weathering and the profligate splatters. Lots to paint but today I’ve been working on three terrain pieces for Outgard.
