You lucky sods, two posts in one day! I think because I missed yesterday. Did I? I don’t know and why should I keep track huh?
I’m surprised no one has made mention of the title of this series of posts? Could it be no one knows? Or could it be no one is really reading the posts and are instead looking at the pretty pictures? Haha.
Anyway I’ll just tell you…
Metallica’s first album, which is called “Kill Em All” was actually first titled Metal Up Your Ass BUTT the hob knobs said eeewwwlll it’s too much, so they changed it to a more violent title in my opinion ahha.
Ironically though there is no Metallica model in my series. I just couldn’t really think of anything apart from something really shiny and metallic and I thought that’d be kind lame.
Even though I’m very fond of the Megadeath model and it is a high contender for first place I think this next one just scrapes through as number one for me.
“Let freedom ring with the shot gun blast”
MACHINEHEAD know how to crank out some hard hitting tune. A couple of my mates are well into this band. Whereas I like a good portion of their music but I do find it a bit hit and miss. My main issue is that some of the grooves are awesome but the patterns/tempos change too much or are too erratic. I know it’s metal but I guess I like the simpler forms of metal and not the over indulged maniacal bombardment of noise. Just find a good riff and crank it out is what I say.
I saw MACHINEHEAD live when they supported Slayer many moons ago and they kicked much arse I must say.
Some of you who, like me, constantly scour google images or follow hobby blogs, may see some similarities in this model to others out there in the big wide internet world. I’m not the first to use that body with a different head that’s for daaaang sure.
I’ve been experimenting with yellow a lot more lately which is quite out of the box for me as I’m not a big fan of yellow. It’s too… yellow haha. For this model though I think the yellow works a treat. It had to be very dirty of course though.
The head choice is how this model and, in fact this whole series, came about. As soon as I saw it on the sprue I thought it looked like a “machine head”. So this was the first model I put together and painted for this series.
Talking of the head I really like the tilted angle to it. He looks menacing but deranged, clown-like but nightmarish. A good blend in my opinion.
The weapon needed to be a little different and it’s the first time I’ve done hazard stripes on anything albeit old, mucky, bloody and rusted.
His base was from a chimera and, as you can see, it’s well rusted.
I cobbled together his oxygen tank and wanted it to look home made. From the start I wanted him to look dirty, rusted and rotten.
Note the little circular blade on his left gauntlet. A nice added bit.
I really like this model. The conversion and the paint work turned out quite well and I can’t stop looking at it haha. Unhealthy really.
I hope you dig him too folks.
