Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is Six hundred and sixty six
Haha you can’t get anymore cheesy but cool at the same time for an opening of a Metal song than the above. Brilliant!!!
IRON MAIDEN is another band I’ve never really followed. Sure I like a few of the songs but I’ve never bought or even downloaded anything of theirs. It’s pretty over the top but then again so is Slipknot and I lose my freakin mind over those nutcases.
When coming up with the design for this the old girl I almost considered giving it the head of Margaret Thatcher haha. Jokes.
I think the name is very METAL indeed and evokes some cool imagery in my brain. Even the bands artwork is pretty gnarly. Wow I just used the word gnarly Hahahaha.
Here she is people.
IRON MAIDEN
Before we get into more pix I wrote this little thing about my IRONMAIDEN…
She moves in the darkness with a clankitty Clonk Click
Her aroma is so dank it’s enough to make you sick
Part iron and part bone
The evilness inside was long ago sewn
Nothing more does she desire
Than to burn your soul with her fire
Take her damp and withered hand
She will guide you through the dead land
Forever you’ll be her slave
In life and beyond the grave
Haha my own cheesyness right there but hey it’s metal right?
Ok, ok I hear you “PICTURES DAMN YOU”
I went with purples, dark pinks and some light blue/greens for the drapes. Like with the yellow on MACHINEHEAD these aren’t my usual go to colours but they turned out alright.
I like the mechanicla looking dreadlocks I gave her. Gives her mechanical voodoo queen type look.
The skull came from that lovely pack of skulls GW released a little while ago. I wanted it to look half bone and half iron.
I was going to go with a larger (taller model) more statuesque and dominant looking but I really like the old decrepit vibe to her so I’m glad I went with the hunched over look.
That twisted, accusing, poitning finger gives me the creeps.
A really lovely model/sculpt to tinker with and I think I may purchase the same kit again later down the track.
She was a lot of fun to paint and took quite a while as there is a fair bit of detail plus I was practicing more highlighting as well.
A few more pix just because I’m rather fond of you lot.
This next shot is my favourite. Even though you can only see the back of her I think I’ve captured the character best here.
She shuffles through the darkness, through the rubble of ruined dead worlds, in search of souls to burn.Ā
Thanks for viewing.
Love to hear your thoughts.

Ah, a band I would love to see! This series is almost making me want to get into this hobby. Alas, I’m really good at getting into something and not sticking with it lol.

Great work- looks like a techno-crone as opposed to a techno-barabarian. Like if the Brothers Grimm took acid….
For the record Iron Maiden was the first band I sw live back in the early 90s, don’t listen to their stuff anymore really though.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thanks man
How were they live?
I imagine that’d put on a pretty good show.

They were very good- loud and tight, but no dangerous ‘edge’ which meant it came across as a bit ‘nice’ in retrospect, although that is with 20 years of hindsight and some pretty raucous gigs under my belt….
Cheers,
Pete.

Great stuff, mate. Aside from the creative use of kits and glue, you can really see how your technique and use of colour has improved if you look beyond the cool conversion and properly see what’s been done with the paint.

Thanks Alex. I think I tend to stick to what I know when it comes to painting but when I push myself I’m often surprised with what I achieve

That’s mental – I love it! Glad you didn’t give it Maggy’s head though, that would have been too scary for me š

Nice! I like the hunched over old crone vibe she’s got going on. Decrepit but still able to bring hell with her wherever she roams. š
