I’m not loving the new WP editor

What the shit? The new editor thing is annoying. Who has time to learn new ways to post a simple blog. I’m with TIM, if it’s not broken don’t fix it dammit.

Sigh…

Rant over but sorry guys no proper post today just a moan and groan haha.

What are your thoughts on it?

Cheers.

  1. Yup, if it ain’t broke why break it? I’m not using it either yet, I tried using one of the test versions they released and it was one of the most half-arsed nightmarish things to use I’ve ever come across. At the moment it seems like it’s pretty straightforward to switch back to the “classic” editor (I still remember when it was new – and that’s not me being old, it really was only a few years ago). Maybe I’m being a bit harsh on it but so long as I’m able to use the “classic” version then I’ll just do that, let other people work out the kinks!

      1. On my phone there’s three little dots in the top right hand corner next to “publish” – click on that and the first option is “Switch to classic editor”. Mind you I never write blogs on my phone anyway. Haven’t worked it out on the computer yet because I haven’t needed to but as soon as the new editor appears there that’s exactly what I’ll be doing!

  2. Yeah WP periodically pushes out some new, fancy version of their editor, always “guaranteed to revolutionize your WP experience” whether by blocks or minimalist design or whatever. The feature I most love and use is “Switch to Classic Editor” though.

      1. In the new editor, just click the three points in the top right corner to open the menu, Switch to Classic Editor should be the final item at the very bottom.

  3. Oh sugar! I haven’t even noticed this, I still used the same one I have since i started in 2014, and don’t want to change. Why is it every time they improve something they make it worse! (not just talking about WP here it’s everything!!!).

Cheers Roger. (original recipe and still the best!)

  4. I still love blogging on WordPress as such, but so have to say, with every new version of their editor things become more complicated and I feel none of the new versions are really required.

      1. My usual response to changes that seem to make things worse is just like yours. Simple and functional is all that’s needed. With blocks it at least solved a few formatting issues I was having and I’ve got my head around how to use it now.

  6. Huh, I just did a new post and I didn’t even notice that there were any changes. I wonder why it hasn’t changed on my end yet. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that.
On a side note, when I pulled up your blog Mr. Moth was sitting next to me and saw the image in your blog header and was really impressed and said how badass it is. ๐Ÿ™‚
