OTP Terrain Part 6 – The Fishing Boat

This one is coooooooooooooooool.

I was going to turn this bad boy into a flying boat/airship thing but I’m so impressed with it as it is I’m going to keep it as it is.

It will be used by the Order Of The Crow who reside at the Lake House.

Let’s have a look starting with the hull, deck and outrigger.

In this next picture I’ve attached the cabin, trawling next and trapdoor. So detailed.

Here are all the other extra little bits to complete the build of the boat but there are no instructions included but there are some online. Looks pretty straightforward.

Heres the online images.

Also included in this set are some cool creatures of the deep. I particularly like the Hammerhead Shark.

I think I might need to build some Bird-like-fishing-crew for this boat though hehe.

Do you guys know of anyone who does roll out water mats? I don’t mean the mouse pad ones I’m after something glossy and bumpy like water. Or is this something I might have to make with resins?

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. I’m not working for a change and it’s been nice to not do much. I’ve hung out with the kids, watched some telly. I’m actually watching Yellowstone on STAN which is better than I thought it’d be.

I’ve also been so inspired by this post – https://steinbergshedspace.wordpress.com/2020/07/09/shed-news-final-ikea-order-completed/

That I’ve started to sort and tidy my War Room (Fengeon) once more haha.

It’s kinda fun. I put on my music and just get stuck in.

So far I’ve tidied all the shelves and repositioned miniatures in the display cabinets. Today I’m going to tackle everything else including the desk. Wish me luck haha.

On completion I will put up a post.

      1. Not sure! You may be able to buy patterned shower partitions/glass from a DIY outlet. Roger’s point is valid though about the “waves” interfering with how a model will sit on the surface. I have coast and sea mats but I’m happy with them as they are to be honest!

  1. That boat certainly ain’t “junk” sorry I just had too (it’s a curse I swear it is!). As for mats have you thought of a sheet of perspex over a blue cloth?, I’ve seen a tutorial online (youtube) about making waves out of clear bathroom sealer and a plastic spoon (I kid you not), though I rather depends if your boat is going to move of or not as the waves would restrict movement a bit.

    Cheers Roger.

      1. Read an article in a wargames illustrated a while back about making flexible (roll up) textured gaming mats using canvas and spacking and paint, you could do one of those in sea colours, I bet you could find an article or blog post about it online. Was a bit mess though as I recall, you’d need an understanding wife I think. 😉

        Cheers Roger.

  2. Great boat mate and I’m with you on the shark!! Bugger me we must be on the same wave length as I just received a ship I ordered today for my next fantasy show ,originally I was going to incorporate it into the Elf /Goblin dio but the first one I ordered its still stuck out there somewhere between Germany and me , I should have done a bit more checking around and purchased in Auss like you are!

  3. Oooh, love the boat AND the deep sea critters! 😀
Glad you’re enjoying some time off of work. They just extended my work’s closure and they didn’t give us a potential return to work date this time so we’ll see what happens I suppose.

      1. Yeah, thankfully my boss has made sure to do all the behind the scenes work to take care of her employees and we’ve been getting our pay and benefits like normal as if we were working during all of this. 🙂 I’m really thankful.

      2. She really is. I’ve never worked anywhere before where my boss has genuinely cared and gone above and beyond to do the best she can by her workers like this place. 🙂 All of our Admin Team is actually pretty damn amazing.
