Hello good folk of the Blogosphere, how goes you?
I have been a model building madman this last week gone. I’ve built two custom Ork Trukks, a custom Ork Deff Dredd, a crazy little Ork tractor thing and FIVE Ork commandos!!!
However, this post isn’t about Orks at all haha.
Well I did set out to build an Ork boat tonight but they ended looking too big for it so I turned it into a high speed pirate skiff for HellGate.
Let’s take a look.

The hull is from a lego kit and works quite well but, at first, it was difficult to get plastic bits to stick to it. I ended up giving the hull a light sand with wet/dry sandpaper and then the bits stuck fast.
The deck cane together so simply and was fun to do. The triangular piece in the front I had to cut into shape from a large square which was fun.
The crew were a lot of fun to build too and I could have kept adding more and more members but didn’t want the skiff to look over crowded.
I’m not calling this model build done yet as I think it might need a few more extra little details here and there.
I’ll show you alllllllll the Ork stuff I’ve built in the next day or two. I’ve had a blast and I’ve been following my butterfly.
I’m back to work on the 28th of this month which I’m very much looking forward to.
I won’t lie to you, lockdown has been tough. I’m a person who can’t be idle or caged haha so it’s taken a bit of a toll. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed it for the most part and keep reminding myself that I’ve been lucky really but I am super excited to get back to work. I need to be kept busy and believe me work is going to be crazzzzyyyyy. It’s spring here and everything is growing super fast so, as a gardener, I’m going to be flat out. Which is exactly the way I like it hehe.
I hope you’re all well.
Cheers
IRO
This looks great! And I’m looking forward to seeing the Orcs. Hope you enjoying being back at work, I did think about you the other day when I was doing some gardening here in the UK and a “big” spider almost ran on my hand (I almost screened like a little girl) I did think how does IRO cope with this in a place where spiders actually can kill you. And then it all made sense thats why you are crazy 😀 (I mean that in a good way).

Hahaha spiders can be as big as my hand here but I leave them alone and they leave me alone. If we happen to cross paths I’ll flick them away. Glad you like the skiff.

Another IRO original mate and I love it. Listened to the podcast the other day and enjoyed that too. Glad to hear you are coming out of lock down although I think in your case you should call it exile as it sounds better! Looks like things are getting worse again over here in blighty but only so much we can do. Fingers crossed time.

Stay positive mate. I’m glad you like the skiff. I like boats so it was a fun challenge.

Really like it, both the concept and the models. They look like a right nasty bunch, and the fast skiff works really nicely, they give off that modern pirate vibe.

Thanks man. I’m going for a modern wasteland-ish vibe hehe

Nice WIP, IRO. No such thing as “overcrowded” 🙂

Love it, you’ve got the sense of motion in there perfectly. The harpoon, the hull-busting saw and the crazy dude manning it all makes it for me. Looking forward to seeing those orks!

That is fantastic- really like that kind of build. Going for the Lego hull must have saved you a load of time as building ship hulls can be a righht pain.
Cheers,
Pete.

Cheers. The hull happened to be the perfect size. The main deck is from the containers terrain from GW and slotted in perfectly.

Nice build mate. Take care and good luck with being able to get back to work. We are now in the autumn period and where its supposed to be quieter at the zoo, people are still flocking en masse. Guess everyone took later vacations this year

Great looking conversion IRO, and what an eclectic mix of model parts you’ve used, would look great on any post apoc board that had water.
Good to hear your coming out of lockdown, looks like were about to start our second ! hope all goes well

Thanks Dave. Usually when I build Orks I have a mishmash if all sorts of wonderful bits to play with so it kinda worked well for these pirates too. Stay safe matey

Love that, the hull looks too sleek for Orks to me so I think you made the right call changing to your your Hell Gate project. “Mad Max” with boats would be pretty cool actually, and don’t say that’s what “Waterworld” was (I think we all know what “Waterworld” was! 👎).
Cool stuff as usual, mate!
Cheers Roger.

Thanks matey. Yeah I didn’t really get into Waterworld. Good concept but just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Superb work as is your usual. Nice to see the butterfly landed on something completely different. I did enjoy aspects of Waterworld (and deplored others) but this is great for Hellgate. The LEGO boat was inspired, and I’m wondering what you could do with a WWII PT boat with Orks? I really like what you did here IRO!

Haha funny you say that because I was looking at a 135 scale of one of those just the other day.

Great will check it out , and soon I’ll be able to listen to a lot more as I handed in my notice yesterday and so retiring in eight weeks. That has blown up the 🐝 hive as I’ve been there ten years and the boss come to rely on me running the place, she’s been absent for the workplace for a year , but I have reassured her all will be well as I have trained the other staff in all my duties.🤔😉It’s not the way TIM told me to do it but what with Virus plans have been really given a blasting . I bet you are busy 😳on the way to work on Monday all I could see and smell was mown grass !🤣🤣

I’m a fan of the Hellgate stuff and this is another great creation. That big harpoon will look great with a bit of paint on it. 🙂

Looks great! 😀
I hope all is going well since you returned to work. I agree, even as an introvert, all this staying at home this year is actually quite maddening. I’ve been back at work since September (hence my 2 month absence from doing pretty much anything online) and it’s been rough getting back into the swing of things. Hope you and your family are doing well! ❤

Thanks, yeah all good here. I like my own time but don’t like NOT being busy haha. Work has been absolutely bonkers but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
