Tau Army Dra ‘rax – Part 3

All the infantry models for my new Tau Army are made now. (30 figures in total).

As I’ll be using them with my own whacky set of rules I decided to NOT have any drones. They look silly and too fiddly to bother making to be honest haha.

On closer inspection of these models I’ve decided that I do like them and they kinda/sorta remind me of building Imperial Guard but still not quite as cool.

Fire team one
Fire team two
Pathfinder team

As mentioned in part one I have something a bit different in mind when it comes to painting. I’m really looking forward to giving it a go but I’m not 100% sure if it’ll work. I’ve never seen it done before so it could go horribly wrong but I figure that everything is fixable.

The next thing to build are some battlesuits.

  1. Those are looking great, the more I take a proper look at the Tau the more I like them. Funnily enough the drones have always been the thing I’ve liked most about the Tau, if I ever did a Tau army it would be swarming with them! I’m very curious about this mysterious new painting technique you’ve developed. 🙂

    1. They’re not bad models mate. A little fiddly but there’s something cool about them. A bit storm trooper-ish or something hehe. Well considering you like clusters of rats I can see why you’d like clusters of drones as well. I just couldn’t be arsed with them hehe.

  2. Roger said “pegged”. Lol

Do you find building a whole force before painting can get overwhelming?

I’ve got an entire 3,000 point WFB Lizardmen army (from a trade) all built and ready to rebase (silly round bases) but the idea of painting it all has meant its still safely bubble wrapped away.

How do you not sink into hopelessness oncethe joy of building is gone and ypu stare at a pile of grey plastic?

    1. Haha I notice the pegged. Maybe it doesn’t have the same errr connotations in the UK as it does elsewhere hehe. Usually I’d find it daunting mate but the technique I hope to incorporate into this army should mean it gets done pretty quickly. We’ll see though.

  3. No drones!!!

You have passed up on the one thing that makes Tau such an irritatingly annoying opponent. Especially now that modern armies are starting to use them. Tie-die camo would restore the balance 🙂

    Regards, Chris.

  4. Looking good, mate! Your building troops at a rapid rate for the Greater Good, I see 😉 I’m looking forward to seeing this paint job you’ve got in mind too. It sounds like I have to wait for you to do some more building first though… 🙂

    1. Having the dedicated cabin hobby space has really helped with my motivation. I love it in there. I’m enjoying this project a lot and I’m already thinking about the next ones haha. Painting, hopefully, should be relatively straightforward and simple as long as my idea works.
