My next instalment for this whacky project is the fodder aka the infantry.
It was seeing these types of kitbashes for Turnip28 that first piqued my interest in the game/movement. Fairly simple but effective looking conversions made from napoleonic and medieval miniatures. Add some organic matter and you’re good to go. It was just odd and unique which are two key things to get me excited.
Anyway, I built these troops a year ago so it felt good to finally get some paint on the whole unit.
Here they are in formation.

Here they are out in the field.

I wanted the colour scheme to loosely tie in with Lady Aisha (turquoise and orange) but I wanted their uniforms to be a lot dirtier. I went heavy of the ink shade with these guys and I think it worked quite well. Like with Orks, nothing needs to be neat with Turnip28 and I love that.
Hope you like them and happy new year to everyone.
Cheers

They’ve come out really well! 🙂 Turnip 28 must be the only project where having more muck and grime than paint is acceptable and you’ve got what to me feels like it’s the right balance! 🙂 A Happy New Year to you too!

Happy new year to you and the family. These look perfect, and really like the use of the pointed Medevil helms they fit perfectly with the other pointed faces.

Happy new year Dave. The aesthetic of Turnip28 is so silly but fun and cool.

They remind me vaguely of the goblin army in the David Bowie film “Labyrinth” – the same sort of aesthetic.

YES! Funny you say that because a few months ago I was considering painting up a small (pun intended) Labyrinth-esque goblin army. Lots of great goblin 3D prints on Etsy

Taking these minis outside was a great idea as they look perfect in the dirt. You’re really doing some inspired work here and I love the character in this squad. Turnip28 really is a unique setting that stands out from everything else out there.

Thanks. I felt like a kid playing in the garden with my soldiers haha. Often the kids take photos of me doing it just to tease me hahaha.
