I have 110 Zulus completed including their individual bases and the 10 man movement trays.

Not quite thousands of em but a good lot. I have another 170 to do BUT I’ll also be acquiring even more to reach 400. Why? Well two reasons. The first, and most obvious reason, is that I’m clearly a little nuts. The second reason is that I’d like to extend the Rorke’s Drift project so I can play a battle/game of Isandlwana as well.
If you’re a little unclear what the battle of Isandlwana was I’d suggest watching a few docos on YouTube, watching the movie Zulu Dawn (nowhere near as good as Zulu but worth a watch) and reading all about the battle here –
https://rorkesdriftvc.com/isandhlwana/isandhlwana.htm
Basically though it was a huge massacre for the British who greatly underestimated their Zulu foe.
400 Zulu warriors is the new target so I can play both Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.

Yes I could work with less Zulus and just reuse or respawn fallen warriors but that wouldn’t tickle my fancy at all. I want to see hordes of Zulus engulfing the British encampment at Isandlwana in the form of the horns of the bull. I want to see swarms of Zulu warriors charging mealie bags and busting into the hospital at Rorke’s Drift. I won’t settle for anything less hehe.
Like I did last year, I’d like to put it out there that if anyone would like to help me paint these warriors please get in touch here – gardensbytheminute@gmail.com. I will pay for postage both ways and give you a rough idea on colours but as you can see they’re pretty straightforward. You can paint one, five, ten, fifty haha whatever you want really.
Cheers
IRO
110 complete so far is a good number Luke, and I applaud you wanting so many to represent the battle accurately. As for the painting I need to look at a few things and will let you know.

Thanks mate. The more Zulus the better but 400 will do for now hehe. I’m sure in years to come I’ll add more. You can never have enough Zulus of Orks I believe. No worries mate Re painting some Zulus. It’s a big ask but I kind of get a buzz out of having Zulus painted by others from around the globe and locally.

wow, that’s a whole lot of minis! I have a couple of ‘100 strong’ armies to my name, but the thought of doing 400 of anything melts my brain!

Haha hence why I’ve asked for help. I’ll chip away though. My method of batch painting them is quite easy so that makes painting them quite nice actually.

Good luck in this endeavour man. Great that you want to re enact this battle. The Zulu were underestimated by the English as well as the Boers back in the day, many battles taking place to draw inspiration from.

That looks an impressive group as is 400 is going to look awesome!
Perhaps next year if we do another “Paint what we’ve all got challenge” we could all paint a group of your Zulu’s 😁
Cheers Roger.

It should look quite impressive once the full 400 are on the table

You’re going to need a bigger house, haha! Great job on getting those first 110 done, that’s impressive! 😀

Haha well it’s funny you say that because we just bought one hahaha. Thanks mate they’re quite fun to paint but I’ll see if I feel the same way after another 300 haha

400!?! That is going to be seriously impressive when you get them done. I’m glad you’re making progress on this ambitious project and I hope you find plenty of volunteers. With how slow I paint, I don’t think it’d be worth the shipping fees to send me a couple to work on as fun as they would be to work on.

Haha well up to you my friend. My motivation and inspiration for this project comes in big waves so there’s hopes I will finish it in the next decade at least hehe

Great work on these. Love the large-scale games. 400 is going to be incredible to have in a game.

Very inspiring Luke – though I’m late to the party (been wrapped up getting my stuff painted for conventions). Open to painting a few for you once my convention schedule (and golf) lightens up this summer.

Very cool mate! I’d love it if I could help, but I’ve got literally hundreds of Zombies I need to work through, let alone some of the other projects! If you’re still working on them when I get some extended time off work, however…
