All my friends RIDE a Lowrider…

They don’t actually, in fact none of them do but I definitely do.

Here’s my ride and I call him “Dragula”

I learnt to ride a bike on an old Krate Bike before getting a BMX

When we first came to Australia my first bike was a dragster mongoose from memory. A girls one though because it didn’t have the cross bar. I didn’t care though it was cool.

So I guess I’ve always had a love for the old school dragster, lowrider, krate bike.

Dragula is quite unique as there is minimal chrome apart from the huge ape hanger handlebars. The rest of the body is in matt black. All the twisted metal including the pedals and sissy bar are black as well. I was going to add a 36″ sissy bar but I think it’d dig into my back a bit too much.

They’re not the easiest things to ride and are more for cruising and coolness than anything else. Strutting your stuff kind of riding hehe. It’s definitely a head turner. I’m 6ft 2″ but surprisingly I find it comfortable to ride but I wouldn’t go on any marathons.

Eventually I want to add more spikes down the back wheel mud guard, a triple trumpet air horn like this one –

Plus some iron cross side mirrors, a large vintage motorbike headlight and a number plate on the back that says “OUTLAW”

Nothing to do with OUR hobby but it’s still one of MY hobbies.

Hope you like it.

Cheers

IRO

    1. Well I know we live in a world of safety first but I don’t wear a helmet. I now wear that trapper hat I showed off a little while ago. Before that it was a beanie or flat cap. It’s only a cruiser so I don’t go on the roads with it.

    1. I had a feeling you’d like this bad boy. You should get one. The dude I bought it off never rode it, just sat it in his lounge room hehe. It wasn’t quite as pimped when I first got it. I’ve added my own flare to it.

      1. This was listed for $700 but got it for $200 because he just wanted it gone as he was moving house. I’ve had it for about five years now. They’re. It cheap but then again neither are miniatures hehe. It’s one thing I’ll keep forever.

  1. 🎸Scared that it digs into your back?🎸 Dragular! This post made me smile. Last time i read about your Dragular i thought it was going to be a motorcycle🙈. This is still awsome and if its a hobby it deserves a spot on your blog. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Looks like you put a lot of work into it, and it looks pretty damned cool. I can only imagine what you would do with a motorbike, though it might not be as fun.

I know little about bikes, less about motorbikes, but I’ve always wondered why the boy’s bike have the ball busting bar, and the woman’s doesn’t? Freakin engineers!

  3. Great post IMP , I don’t know about not being in line with what we do ,I think what we do is being creative so you lovely bike certainly fits in well . I don’t think I would like to ride it after a few pints let alone sober ,I tried to ride a bike 40 years home from the pub when I was in the UK , I spent most of the time disentangling myself from the hedges .
