All the way back in 2018 I started a medieval project, I actually can’t believe it’s been that long since I’ve revisited it? What the actual shit? Where does all the time go?? It’s mad.
Anyway as a little refresher, and to save you the agony of reading part I and II, I’ve copied and pasted this next part from the previous posts –
Ever since I was a kid and watched movies like The Vikings (Kirk Douglas), El Cid, Warlord, Robin Hood (Costner), Spartacus, Ben-Hur (Heston), The Long ships and then later movies like Braveheart, Gladiator, Troy, 300 and Centurion I’ve had a fascination with sword and sandal eras and Medieval times.
As is my way I’ll be forging my own path and nothing will be 100% historically accurate BUT they will all be historical miniatures. What do I mean by that? I mean French, Battle Of Agincourt, foot knights might be in the same army as Saxon Thegns haha. There will also be Roman soldiers which is a bit weird because when the Roman Empire fell is sort of when the medieval times kicked off. I’ll also be making up my own fluff/lore etc. Soooooo this project falls somewhere between fact and fiction.
So there’s the refresher. As far as models painted so far Hmm well there isn’t much at all haha BUT I have put together a shit ton AND I have all this to put together too.

There’s probably about 12 boxes of minis in there. Crazy addiction I have.
Before I get stuck into the Imperial Guard Project I made mention of a little while ago I just fancied sitting and putting together minis. SO my self inflicted challenge is going to be to build everything in the tub pictured above before I start the IG project.
Why do I do this to myself?
I’ll tell ya…
It’s fun, cathartic, it’s escapism at its best.
As far as painting goes I’ll chip away here and there but I’m not setting myself any deadlines. Just want to enjoy the journey on this one. Once I’ve got a nice amount of minis put together and painted I might have a small skirmish game though.
Cheers
IRO
It is a big job but I’m sure you are up for it.
Careful not to get too high on the glue fumes though.
Cheers,
Pete.

That’s quite a challenge! I’m pretty sure we’ll see most of them assembled before the end of the year! 🙂

It’s an interesting idea Luke, having all those different armies on the same board, and good luck with the box of plastic, should keep you busy for a little while ! LOL

Of course you could be painting metal minis…😜 Seriously, I wish you luck on yet another project. After New Orkleans I think a little butterfly action might be cathartic for ya. No matter what, I’ll be a rapt observer!

I’d like to think that your hobby Dad helped inspired this but I suspect you’ve been interested long before knowing him 😉 Knights are always awesome to paint and I can’t wait to see what you do with yet another huge and ambitious project!

Heck of a project. Lots of research for painting, as well. You’ll be busy!
But isn’t that a great part of the hobby? New projects and boxes ld minis to look forward to! Good luck!

It’s daunting but exciting at the same time hehe. It’s medieval but also a mix of my own imagination but I’ll definitely be looking for inspiration .

I feel you there, mate. I’ve got similar “collections” of boxed plastic for projects that I’ll “definitely” get around to painting “one day”…
Hope to see you get this one done! 🙂
